Blue Lechenaultia - giclée print
Blue Lechenaultia | Lechenaultia biloba | Floor of the Sky
For many years, the brilliance of this flower was such that no available artists’ pigments could accurately replicate the flower and in 1935 the West Australian newspaper proudly offered a limited edition artistic reproduction of a photograph of the blue lechenaultia for its readers at Christmas time, having finally procured the technology and ink to faithfully replicate its glorious blue. Much has been written about this flower, formally and informally, one letter to the editor of a Goomalling newspaper in 1928 reads ‘its heaven-blue colour is really ravishing. As one is looking into the big mass of these flowers forming one of nature’s most beautiful blue carpets, the eye and the mind are quickly wrapt up in admiration and lost in the wonders of the supernatural world above’.
The first series from the Lalleuca studio, Tracey draws influence from centuries of scientific botanical exploration and combines it with the tenets of Pop Art: bold colour, strong form and an aesthetic that commands attention. Each work is a marriage between story and design, between information and colour, each work celebrates the plant and encourages the collector to learn and engage with bright, unbridled joy.

Every effort has been made to ensure that the colour tones represented here reflect the tones in the real artwork. If this is a concern to you it is best to email before purchase for advice on colour.
The original silk screen works are collectible bespoke artworks. They are the largest of the range and each are made by hand. The nature of the process encourages each print to have its own personality and difference. No two artworks are the same. The colours in these artworks are unparalleled, as is the variance in sheen and overlay. Each original is embossed with the studio stamp, numbered and labelled by hand and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The Giclée Art Prints are the next best thing after an original. Whilst they are replicas and have larger editions, their price point makes them more affordable to an entry level collector. The inks used are pigment inks and the paper is archival; framed behind glass these prints will retain their vibrancy for decades.
