Red Flowering Gum - Giclée
Corymbia ficifolia, Boorn, Yorgam
These show-pony bloodwoods differ from gums in that their buds form in spring, after the foliage which means that when it’s show time the blossoms are centre stage, above the dark green leaves and well and truly in the spotlight. They erupt into giant bouquets of neon pink, orange or red fireworks and bring with them a hive of excitement with both birds and bees enjoying their sweet smorgasbord. The bloodwoods’ cue for this showy display is often summer solstice, making them the stars of long hot days in Western Australia.
